First Wave of Liberty Mobility Now Drivers Hit the Road in Athens County

Tuesday, June 20 (Athens, Ohio) – Liberty Mobility Now (Liberty), a ride-sharing service that launched in Athens County, Ohio on June 1, 2017, officially has drivers on the road that are ready to take the people in their community where they need to go.

Last Friday, 10 Athens County residents attended and passed the first Liberty driver orientation held by Liberty’s President & CEO, Valerie Lefler and the region’s Area Manager, Bret Whitaker.

The driver’s schedules all vary to the point that Athens’ Liberty Area Manager, Bret Whitaker, foresees being able to accommodate ride requests on any day, at any time.

“We have a great initial core group of drivers here at Liberty Mobility Now in Athens,” Whitaker said. “They are diverse, community-centric individuals who possess the common desire to assist those with transportation needs in our beautiful region of Southeast Ohio.”

Willis Korb, a retired English teacher and one of the newly active Liberty Drivers has seen a growing need for affordable transportation in the Southeast Ohio area. “Becoming a Liberty driver allows a people-person like myself a win-win opportunity,” Korb said. “I can help and assist others in my community to get where they need to go whenever they want to while also working a flexible part-time schedule.”

In Athens County, Liberty’s current rates for rides sit at $1.25 a mile with a $4 minimum and a $1.10 booking fee.

“With our variety of booking options, flexible availability and affordable rates, we hope to increase access to safe and convenient transportation for whatever local residents and visitors might need, whether it be a trip to a medical appointment, a ride home from a community event, or a lift to the airport,” Whitaker said.

Liberty is still hiring additional drivers, there are two ways you can apply:
